Professional Profile

Helping people is at the core of all that I do. What I love most about being a physician assistant is that ability to connect with, create trust with and educate my patients so they can achieve their best state of good health and wellbeing.

I can trace this desire to help others directly to my mother. Growing up, I saw her dedicate a portion of her career helping those who are less fortunate. My mother embodied today’s global mandate: to help others in times of need and hardship. She will always be my role model because of her tremendous work and I wanted to follow her footsteps in my own career.

In college, having responded to numerous medical calls involving car accidents, fires, and other traumatic events as a volunteer emergency medical technician for my local fire department, I felt that I had a certain level of comfort and familiarity in treating patients who are in pain and in need of help. My education and experiences have served to motivate me and mold me into a knowledgeable, well rounded physician assistant.

My work allows me to serve as a caregiver and bring hope to people from all paths of life, by providing access to high quality and cost-effective health care. It has also allowed me to continually expand my scope of practice, working in family medicine and women’s health, providing prenatal care, surgical and gynecological services.

I believe that as a physician assistant, I provide an important link between patients and medical doctors. And the truth is, I really enjoy working in the field of women’s health. I help ensure the health and safety of delivering mothers both before and after their babies are born. Helping to foster that bond between mother and baby is indescribable and so very rewarding.

I also want my patients to know that as a Latina woman from Colombia, when meeting patients in the exam room, I enjoy integrating culture and communicating with patients in their native language.

On a personal level, when I am not at work, I spend a great majority of the time with my two dogs going on hikes, traveling and visiting friends and family.
